My Services
Since retiring from Reuters, I have conducted journalism training workshops at Cal Poly, Columbia University, and the Thomson Reuters Foundation. My specialty is bespoke training for narrative and investigative journalism. I also teach journalism bootcamp and newsroom leadership courses. As a writer, I maintain a couple of bIogs, including one on Asian related new topics and another on senior softball leagues in the LA area, as well as write freelance news features and some sponsored content.
About Me
I was a foreign correspondent, bureau chief, and editor for 35 years with Reuters, guiding teams of journalists to produce breaking news, features, and investigations in multimedia formats. I worked throughout Asia, including multi-year postings in Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Korea and Singapore. I was lead editor for Reuters Pultizer Prize in 2013 in the category of International Journalism and won a National Press Club award in 2015. I ended my Reuters career as the Los Angeles Bureau Chief, in charge of Hollywood coverage, features, and late breaking news across the United States. I have two adult daughters, one working for NBC and the other a doctor in Ireland.
“As a writer you should not judge. You should understand.”
